Sarah Chavez Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Tucson

 
TUCSON, AZ (February 8, 2024) – The Tucson Police Department identified 46-year-old Sarah Marie Chavez who died in a pedestrian accident on South Park Avenue on January 30.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at East 22nd Street at approximately 6:30 AM. Based on a report, Chavez was attempting to cross from south to north on East 22nd Street at that time.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a Dodge Charger traveling westbound at a speed more than the posted 30 mph nighttime speed limit hit her. Police said the victim was in a marked crosswalk but she crossed against the traffic signal.
 
As a result, Chavez suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
The driver of the Dodge Charger stopped and cooperated with officers. Police said he was not impaired by alcohol or drugs but he did not have a valid driver’s license at the time of the collision.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
