ARVIN, CA (October 6, 2022) – Jose Ascencion Nieto Bonilla died in a head-on crash on David Road at 6:38 a.m. on Thursday, October 29.

According to California Highway Patrol, 38-year-old Bonilla from Bakersfield was driving an eastbound Toyota Matrix towards Edison Road at an unknown speed.

66-year-old Gerardo Espinoza of Arvin was driving a westbound Buick Rendezvous on David Road at the same time.

Reports revealed that Espinoza swerved to the eastbound lane, crashing head-on with Bonilla’s vehicle. Authorities are still uncertain of what caused the accident as of now.

Bonilla died at the scene of the crash, police said.

Espinoza was rushed to Kern Medical after sustaining minor to moderate injuries.

Police announced the temporary closure of David Road for further investigation. They also cleared out the road from the crash.
