Joie Vitosky Killed in Scottsdale Jet Accident

 
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (February 28, 2025) — 78-year-old pilot Joie Vitosky died in a jet accident on Monday, February 10.
 
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, a Learjet 35A owned by rock musician Vince Neil veered off the runway after landing at Scottsdale Municipal Airport.
 
Then it crashed into a parked Gulfstream G-200 parked at the airport near Scottsdale Road and Thunderbird Road around 2:45 p.m.
 
Video footage showed the Learjet losing control before impact. Preliminary data indicated its last recorded speed at approximately 63 miles per hour. Aviation experts suspect the left wing dropped due to the failure of the left main landing gear.
 
Fire crews found Vitosky deceased inside the aircraft. The co-pilot, along with Neil’s girlfriend and her friend, sustained injuries. They are expected to recover. A fifth person declined medical treatment.
 
The NTSB has launched an investigation. They recovered the cockpit voice recorder, enhanced ground proximity warning system, and flight data components. They will further examine the wreckage in Phoenix.
 
Neil, who was not on board, expressed his condolences through a statement.
