John Yenogoyan Injured in Semi-Truck Accident on 82 Freeway

 
KITTITAS COUNTY, WA (August 22, 2024) — 21-year-old John Yenogoyan, of Camano Island, died in a semi-truck accident on Saturday, August 10.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash happened just after 6:00 p.m. on 82 Freeway, slightly south of Ellensburg.
 
WSP said Yenogoyan drove a 2004 Chevy Suburban eastbound on 82 Freeway.  At the same time, 38-year-old Geoffrey Kitheka, of Tarzana, California, drove a 2018 Freightliner Cascadia also eastbound on the same freeway.
 
Then Yenogoyan struck Kitheka’s vehicle from behind. After that, both vehicles came to a stop and blocked the right lane of the freeway.
 
Yenogoyan sustained serious injuries. Emergency responders airlifted him to Harborview Medical Center.
 
Kitheka was not hurt in the collision.
 
Both wore seatbelts at the time of the crash.
 
The cause of the incident is not yet determined. There are no reports of impairment or speed contributed as a factor.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
