Joe Murillo Critical Struck and Injured by Hit-and-Run Driver in Avondale

 
AVONDALE, AZ (October 20, 2023) – The Avondale Police Department identified 33-year-old Joe Murillo who suffered critical injuries in a hit-and-run on 107th Avenue on 107th Avenue on October 11.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Buckeye Road around 8:00 PM. Based on a report, Murillo was riding his bicycle in the lanes at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, 41-year-old Bertin Hernandez-Vega hit him. Hernandez-Vega fled the scene after the crash.
 
As a result, Murillo sustained serious injuries. Emergency crews transported him to the hospital in extremely critical condition.
 
While investigating, officers found Hernandez-Vega and his vehicle at a nearby home. They arrested him on a felony charge of failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
