MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (February 16, 2024) — Two people, 28-year-old Jesus Mejia Trejo and 21-year-old Mario Govea Jr., died in a rollover crash on Sunday, February 11.
 
According to Texas DPS, the one-vehicle rollover accident occurred on Highway 158 at mile marker 306 at around 4:40 a.m.
 
Texas DPS said a 2023 Dodge Ram 2500 traveled around a slight curve while moving on eastbound Highway 58. Then the driver, 36-year-old Braulio Caldarella Lerma, drove at an unsafe speed for the wet road conditions. This caused the truck to go off the roadway. It overturned several times.
 
The impact ejected all five people from the truck. Trejo died at the scene.
 
EMS responders rushed the other four people to Midland Memorial Hospital. Govea Jr. later died at the hospital due to sustained injuries in the crash.
 
Lerma sustained serious injuries. Meanwhile, the two other passengers had minor injuries. Authorities identified them as 34-year-old Benito Valle and 45-year-old Yodier Vadecia.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
