71-Year-Old Iris Rodriguez Killed, Alexander Leiva Arrested in Crash on South Dairy Ashford Road [Houston, TX]

Iris Rodriguez Identified in Fatal Crash on South Dairy Ashford Road in Houston

 
HOUSTON, TX (February 16, 2024) – The Houston Police Department identified 71-year-old Iris Rodriguez who died in a crash on South Dairy Ashford Road on February 11.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Bissonnet Street around 8:20 PM. Based on a report, Rodriguez was driving a silver Nissan Juke on South Dairy Ashford.
 
The victim was making a left turn onto Bissonnet Street while 30-year-old Alexander Leiva was driving a black Ford F-150 pickup truck eastbound on the road. Due to unknown reasons, Leiva ran a red light and hit the Nissan. The impact caused the Nissan to veer over the grassy median and strike a gray Honda CRV.
 
As a result, Rodriguez suffered grave injuries in the incident. Fire Department paramedics rushed her to a local hospital, where she later died.
 
Leiva and his 19-year-old passenger had minor injuries. Crews took them and a 19-year-old female Honda driver and her male passenger to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Police arrested Leiva for intoxication manslaughter.
 
As of now, the officers are investigating the crash. In addition, no other details are available.
