Fatal Head-On Crash in Durango, Jessie Young Identified

 
DURANGO, CO (May 1, 2023) – La Plata County Coroner identified 30-year-old Jessie Marie Young as the victim who died in a head-on crash on Highway 172 on April 14.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the collision happened near mile marker 21 near the Durango-La Plata County Airport.
 
Based on a report, Young was driving a Kia southwest on the highway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, her vehicle traveled into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Silverado.
 
As a result, Young suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.
 
Two children in Young’s car suffered serious injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 22-year-old, and his 29-year-old passenger also suffered serious injuries. Another passenger, a 21-year-old, had moderate injuries.
 
The Colorado State Patrol suspected alcohol or drug use as a factor in the crash.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
