Jessie Tijerina and Meziah-Brianne Mermea Identified in Injury Crash on Northeast Loop 289 in Lubbock

 
LUBBOCK, TX (January 17, 2024) – The Lubbock Police Department identified 21-year-old Jessie Tijerina and 20-year-old Meziah-Brianne Mermea who suffered injuries in a rollover crash on Northeast Loop 289 on December 11.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened in the 3800 block of the road. Based on a report, Mermea was traveling southeast on the loop in an SUV at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, the SUV drove into the center median. Mermea then veered to the right, lost control, and rolled across the access road. He came to a stop in a field to the west of the loop.
 
As a result, Mermea and his passengers, Tijerina and a two-year-old, suffered injuries in the incident. Crews took Tijerina to University Medical Center with serious injuries. Mermea and the child were transported to UMC with moderate injuries.
