Frewoini Woldemariam Dead in Lynnwood Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway

 
LYNNWOOD, WA (January 17, 2024) — A 45-year-old Seattle woman identified as Frewoini Woldemariam died in a pedestrian accident on Monday, January 15.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the fatal crash took place on 5 Freeway, just south of 44th Avenue West a few minutes after midnight.
 
The WSP said Woldemariam stood in a northbound lane of the interstate when a vehicle struck her. Medics responded at the area and later pronounced her dead at the scene.
 
The 31-year-old woman from Granite Falls who drove the car stayed at the scene of the crash. The WSP said the woman suffered injuries. Paramedics then rushed her to Swedish Hospital in Edmonds.
 
WSP state trooper Kelsey Harding said they believe impairment is a factor in the incident. Additionally, she said there were no arrests made.
 
The fatal crash closed all northbound lanes of 5 Freeway near 220th Street Southwest for around six hours. Authorities reopened all closed traffic at about 6 a.m.
 
WSP continues to investigate the accident.
