Jerry Brantley Killed after Longview Car Crash

 
LONGVIEW, TX (March 27, 2024) — An East Texas teen identified as 17-year-old Jerry Brantley, of Tatum, died in a two-car crash on Friday, March 15.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, they responded to the crash on Highway 149 just before 8:00 a.m.
 
DPS reports said a Chevrolet pickup driven by Brantley was stopped at the intersection of Highway 149 and FM 782. At the same time, a Ford pickup driven by 23-year-old Colby McDaniel, of Kilgore, traveled southeast on Highway 149.
 
After that, the Chevrolet turned left and failed to yield to the Ford. It led to the Ford hitting the Chevrolet on the left side.
 
Emergency responders rushed Brantley to a local hospital where medical personnel pronounced him dead. They also rushed McDaniel to a Longview medical center for treatment of injuries.
 
The investigation of the incident is still underway.
