Jennifer Soto-Cruz Identified in Fatal DUI Crash in Las Vegas, Jesus Martinez-Ruiz Arrested

 
LAS VEGAS, NV (December 20, 2022) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department identified 24-year-old Jennifer Soto-Cruz as the victim who died in a car crash on Nellis Boulevard on December 16.
 
According to the Nevada State Police, the collision happened near Meikle Lane at approximately 12:16 AM. Based on a report, Soto-Cruz was a passenger in a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado that was speeding on southbound Nellis Boulevard prior to the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, the Chevy crossed over the opposite lanes and drove up on the sidewalk. Then, it continued through a chain-link fence and into a vacant lot, where it hit a metal pole of a billboard and a brick wall.
 
As a result, Soto-Cruz died at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to reports.
 
The Chevy’s driver, 21-year old Jesus Martinez-Ruiz from North Las Vegas, suffered minor injuries.
 
Police suspected Martinez-Ruiz of driving while impaired. They booked him into Clark County Detention Center.
 
At this point, the investigation is still ongoing.
