Motorcyclist Jeffrey McDaniel and Driver Daniel Ayers Hurt in Richland Motorcycle Crash

 
RICHLAND, WA (April 11, 2023) – Two men were injured when one of them driving a motorcycle crashed into an SUV on Highway 240 on April 9.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, 31-year-old Jeffrey D. McDaniel of Kennewick drove a motorcycle eastbound near Duportail Street at about 5:45 p.m.
 
38-year-old Daniel J. Ayers of Richland drove a Toyota Rav4 the other direction on Highway 240. Ayers then attempted to turn left onto Duportail Street near the bridge over the Yakima River.
 
However, McDaniel failed to yield the right of way and struck the SUV, according to WSP.
 
Officials transported both men in an ambulance to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, but information on them was not available.
 
McDaniel could be charged with second degree negligent driving, according to WSP. However, an investigation is ongoing. At this time, police do not know if drugs or alcohol are factors.
