Jane Waweru Struck and Killed by Vehicle on 5 Freeway near Marvin Road in Lacey

 
LACEY, WA (November 17, 2023) – A coroner identified 33-year-old Jane Waweru of Tumwater who died in a pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway on November 6.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened between Marvin Road and Carpenter Road around 5:50 PM. Based on a report, Waweru reportedly entered the northbound lanes of the freeway.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a vehicle struck her.
 
As a result, Waweru sustained multiple blunt-force injuries. She died at the scene.
 
Troopers said the driver of the vehicle was not impaired.
 
The collision blocked all lanes of northbound I-5 for more than six hours, causing cars to backup for three miles at one point.
 
At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
