Rene Cardona Jr. and Angelina Romero Killed, Luis Flores Injured in Crash on 20 Freeway [Ector County, TX]

Rene Cardona and Angelina Romero Identified in Fatal in Ector County Crash

 
ECTOR COUNTY, TX (November 17, 2023) – Officials identified 35-year-old Rene Cardona Jr. and 52-year-old Angelina Romero who died in a crash on 20 Freeway on November 8.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near mile marker 106. Based on a report, Cardona was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala eastbound on the freeway service road prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, 69-year-old Luis Flores was driving a 2020 Hino truck with Romero in the outside lane on the westbound lane. Due to unknown reasons, Cardena lost control, crossed over the eastbound side, and entered the westbound lane. Then, Cardena and Flores collided.
 
As a result, Cardena and Romero sustained grave injuries. They both died at the hospital.
 
Crews took Flores to the hospital in stable condition.
