James Bolt Fatally Injured after Beaumont Motorcycle Crash

 
BEAUMONT, TX (February 26, 2024) — A 56-year-old Sour Lake man identified as James Bolt died in a motorcycle crash on Sunday, February 18.
 
According to Beaumont Police, Bolt rode a motorcycle in the 1000 block of 10 Freeway North in front of Classic Acura shortly before 2:30 a.m.
 
Police said that Bolt tried to close a saddle bag that had come open as he rode along the eastbound 10 Freeway. Then he lost control.
 
His motorcycle then struck the concrete median wall. The impact threw Bolt from the motorcycle into the westbound lanes of the Freeway.  After that, an 18-wheeler struck him.
 
Beaumont EMS medics pronounced Bolt dead at the scene.
 
Authorities closed all lanes of the Freeway for several hours during the investigation. They reopened it at around 6:00 a.m.
 
Police continue to investigate the fatal incident.
