Irene Trevino Dies in Red Light Crash in Mission, Jose Vela Arrested for DUI

 
MISSION, TX (January 24, 2023) – Troopers identified Irene Trevino as the victim who died in a crash in the 1000 block of East Solar Drive on January 16.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Mayberry Street just after midnight.
 
Based on a report, Jose Martin Vela was driving a 2004 GMC Yukon at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.
 
Subsequently, he ran a red light at a red light on Mayberry and collided with Trevino’s 2015 silver Ford Explorer that was traveling eastbound on Highway 495.
 
As a result, Trevino died in the incident.
 
Irene’s husband, Oscar Trevino suffered critical injuries. Paramedics transported their three children to the hospital for treatment.
 
Vela fled the scene of the accident but officers were able to locate and arrest him.
