Ilya Shamailov Arrested in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Elkhorn Boulevard [Sacramento, CA]

SACRAMENTO, CA (March 23, 2023) – Officers arrested 32-year-old Ilya Shamailov of Brooklyn after a fatal pedestrian accident on March 13.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Butterball Way around 11:15 PM. Based on a report, a man was walking across Elkhorn Boulevard at the time prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, Shamailov was driving his Corvette, going eastbound on the road. Due to unknown reasons, he struck the pedestrian.
 
As a result, the victim suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. Officials did not yet release the victim’s identity, pending kin notification.
 
Shamailov’s passenger sustained major injuries. Police later arrested him on suspicion of DUI. They booked him into jail after being medically cleared.
 
As of now, an investigation to identify the vehicle and its driver is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
