Hunter Thompson Arrested, Passenger Injured in Suspected DUI Accident on South Academy Boulevard and Drennan Road

 
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (October 13, 2023) — Officials arrested 26-year-old Hunter Thompson after a suspected DUI multi-vehicle crash on Friday, October 6.
 
According to Colorado Springs Police, the multiple-vehicle crash happened at around 4:12 p.m.
 
The initial investigation determined a pickup truck driven by Thompson was part of some minor crashes in the area. After that, the pickup truck continued southbound on South Academy Boulevard and Drennan Road. Then it collided with a garbage truck.
 
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the passenger of the pickup truck with life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders then immediately transported the passenger to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police said Thompson fled the crash site on foot.
 
Authorities closed the intersection for several hours during the on-scene investigation. They suspect impairment was a factor in the crash.
 
Officials arrested Thompson. He is currently in custody on a $10,000 bond facing charges, including Vehicular Assault.
