Man Killed, Woman Seriously Injured in High-Speed Crash on Valleyway Avenue in Spokane Valley

 
SPOKANE VALLEY, WA (April 24, 2023) – The Spokane Valley Police Department confirmed that one person died in a crash involving a high-speed vehicle on Valleyway Avenue on April 21.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near McDonald Road around 5:20 AM.
 
Based on a report, the victim was driving a Volvo S60 at an extremely high rate of speed east on Valleyway at the time of the crash. Due to speed, the driver lost control and the Volvo started to spin across the road and hit a boulder. Then, it rolled and hit a tree, splitting the car in two and completely dislodging the motor from the engine bay.
 
As a result, the driver died at the scene. Officials did not yet release his name, pending kin notification.
 
The car’s female passenger was taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
 
Police said reckless driving and excessive speed contributed to the crash.
 
At this point, an investigation into the accident is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
