Griceldo Garcia Identified in Fatal Crash in Nacogdoches
NACOGDOCHES, TX (February 17, 2023) – Officers identified 69-year-old Griceldo Garcia as the victim who died in a DUI crash on Northeastern Stallings Drive on February 15.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened in the 2800 block of the road around 7:30 PM. Based on a report from the Nacogdoches Police Department, Garcia was slowing due to a Jeep Patriot turning in front of him.
At that point, the driver of the Jeep Patriot, 27-year-old Claudia Luna Villantes was about to turn into a private drive. However, 49-year-old Jerry Chandler failed to slow down and his Ford F-150 hit the back of Garcia’s Grand Cherokee. Then, the Cherokee struck the back of the Patriot.
As a result, Garcia suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.
His 9-year-old grandson suffered serious injuries while Villantes and a 5-year-old passenger sustained minor ones.
Police found Chandler to be intoxicated and placed him into custody.
As of now, the case remains under investigation.
