CLEVELAND, TX (February 17, 2023) – Officers identified 69-year-old Debra Sue Cherry of Rye as the victim who died in a crash on FM 787 on February 14.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Nevels Ferry Road around 6:00 PM. Based on a report, 28-year-old Amanda Michelle Austin of Thicket was driving a Dodge Ram westbound on FM 787 at the time of the crash.

Due to unknown reasons, it traveled into the eastbound lane and hit the victim’s 2022 Subaru Outback. Then, the Outback crossed and came to rest into the westbound lane. As a result, Cherry suffered critical injuries and later died at the hospital.
