Gretchen Houser Dies in Fatal Car Crash in Sunray

 
SUNRAY, TX (October 30, 2022) – Police identified 48-year-old Gretchen Houser of Sunray as the victim who died in a head-on crash on Farm-to-Market Road 119 on October 26.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened about five miles southwest of Sunray around 10:05 AM.
 
Based on a report, Houser was driving northbound in a 2011 Toyota Venza at the time of the crash. About that same time, 36-year-old Zachary Hooks of Texhoma, Okla. was driving southbound in a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. For unknown reasons, the Toyota drifted into the southbound lane in the path of the Chevrolet. Subsequently, the vehicles collided head-on.
 
As a result, Houser was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Emergency crews airlifted Hooks to an Amarillo hospital with serious injuries.
 
As of now, the fatal crash remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
