4 Die in Head-On Accident on Farm Road 51

 
WEATHERFORD, TX (June 10, 2024) — Gregory Daniel Schilb, Kathryn Elizabeth Lain, and two children died in a head-on crash on Sunday, May 26.
 
According to a Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at about 2:15 p.m. on FM 51, just south of Friendship Road.
 
Texas DPS said a woman and three passengers — a man and two girls — traveled north on FM 51. Then a southbound car went into their lane and crashed into them head-on.
 
The woman survived the crash. However, three passengers suffered fatal injuries and died. They identified the 66-year-old man as Schilb, of Springtown.
 
However, the names of the two nine-year-old children are not available.
 
Texas DPS said the driver of the pickup suffered serious injuries. Officers airlifted her to the hospital. They later identified her as 43-year-old Amber Rae Reed, of Springtown.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the car that crashed into them also died in the accident. Authorities identified her as 29-year-old Kathryn Elizabeth Lain, of Boyd.
 
Springtown ISD Superintendent Shane Strickland said that the two children who died in the crash were 4th graders at Goshen Creek Elementary School. In addition, they said Reed was also a teacher at the school.
 
The investigation of the incident is still underway.
