Gregory Cruz Identified in Fatal DUI Crash in Bloomington

 
BLOOMINGTON, CA (July 5, 2023) – The Rialto Fire Department identified 59-year-old Gregory Cruz of Riverside who died in a wrong-way crash in the 300 block of West Santa Ana Avenue on June 23.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Willow Avenue at approximately 8:43 PM. Based on a report, 48-year-old Jose Saavedra-Escoto from Bloomington was traveling westbound on Santa Ana in his white Ford F-150 pickup truck.
 
Due to unknown reasons, he crossed into eastbound lanes and collided with Cruz, who was driving a white Chevrolet Lumina.
 
As a result, Cruz suffered grave injuries in the crash. Crews took him to the hospital, where he later died.
 
Officers arrested Saavedra-Escoto on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. His bail was set at $250,000.
