LA FERIA, TX (August 20, 2024) — A 60-year-old Mercedes man, Gregorio Gonzalez, died in a pedestrian accident on Thursday, August 1.
 
According to the La Feria Police, the crash took place at the intersection of Expressway 83 near Kansas City Road at around 11:55 p.m.
 
La Feria Police Chief Cesar Diaz said that Gonzalez was on the fast lane of the expressway and walking to his home in Mercedes when a vehicle fatally struck him.
 
La Feria Police Department Investigator Ramon Tello said the involved driver dialed 911 following the incident. In addition, the driver remained at the scene and rendered aid.
 
According to Tello, they ruled the crash as an accident. In addition, they said they ordered a toxicology report.
 
The investigation of the incident is still underway.
