Gloria Anthony Dead in Fatal El Paso Car Accident

 
EL PASO, TX (September 4, 2024) — 42-year-old Gloria Anthony died after trying to stop a vehicle from rolling back on Thursday, August 29.
 
According to the El Paso Police, the crash took place at the 12200 block of Pellicano Drive, near Joe Battle Boulevard at about 8:00 p.m.
 
The initial investigation determined a 2016 Blue Honda Pilot pulled into a parking lot. Then the driver got out of the vehicle. After that, the vehicle started to roll backward with a passenger inside.
 
At the time, Anthony crossed Pellicano Drive with other pedestrians. Then they all noticed the vehicle rolling backward.
 
The pedestrians, including Anthony, tried to stop the vehicle. However, at some point, Anthony was knocked down to the ground while the vehicle continued to roll backward.
 
As a result, the vehicle struck her and she sustained life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders brought her to the hospital where she died.
 
The fatality is the 39th traffic-related of this year compared to 53 at the same time in 2023.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
