AURORA, CO (September 4, 2024) — Five people sustained injuries in a two-vehicle accident on East 40th Avenue on Wednesday, August 28.
 
According to the Aurora Police, the accident happened near East 40th Avenue and Peña Boulevard at about 2:00 a.m.
 
Aurora Police Department said one of the vehicles, who allegedly traveled at a high rate of speed, ran a red light and crashed into the other.
 
Paramedics transported five unidentified adults to the hospital. Two of them suffered serious injuries while three others sustained minor injuries.
 
Authorities closed all lanes of East 40th Avenue and Peña Boulevard for several hours on Wednesday morning during the investigation and clean-up.
 
They reopened all closed lanes at 6:30 a.m.
