Geronimo Reynaga Killed and Two Others Hospitalized after Wrong-Way Crash on Pacific Coast Highway near 103 Freeway

LONG BEACH, CA (May 18, 2023) — A teen identified as 18-year-old Geronimo Reynaga of Wilmington died in a car crash on Saturday, May 13.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, shortly before 2:30 a.m., a 2021 BMW hit a curb while traveling west on the eastbound lanes of Pacific Coast Highway near the 103 Freeway. As a result, the vehicle went airborne and rolled.

Emergency responders found Reynaga in the rear of the car. They pronounced him dead at the scene.

There are two other occupants in the vehicle, an 18-year-old Wilmington man who drove the car and a passenger in the front seat. Paramedics transported both to local hospitals for treatment.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police said impairment and speed are possible factors in the incident.
