Michael Robertson Dead, Driver Injured in Navasota Pedestrian Accident

 
NAVASOTA, TX (May 18, 2023) — A man identified as 37-year-old Michael Robertson of Houston died in a pedestrian accident on Sunday, May 14.
 
According to Navasota Police, the crash happened at around 4:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 6, between Highway 90 and Highway 105 East.
 
Officers responded to the location and discovered a male person laying in the middle of the highway. They found him deceased without any identification.
 
At around 100 yards south, police noticed a dump truck laying on its side in the median.
 
The driver of the dump truck told officers that it was dark and raining heavily. Then he noticed an object in the middle of the roadway, and as he drove closer, he realized it was a person. He tried to avoid hitting the person, yet ultimately still struck the man. Then he lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over in the median.
 
The driver received treatment at the scene for minor injuries.
 
Upon investigation, police discovered the man had walked northbound in the main lanes of Highway 6 before the incident.
 
On Monday, investigators identified Robertson and notified his next of kin.
