Andres Quintanar, Gerardo Parra Killed in Porter Ranch Wrong-Way Crash

 
PORTER RANCH, CA (March 13, 2023) – Gerardo Parra and Andres Quintanar died while two others were injured in a wrong-way crash on Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway on Sunday, March 5.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened around 4:25 a.m. at the Tampa Avenue off-ramp.

Based on reports, a dark-colored sedan was heading east in the westbound lanes and later crashed into a semi-truck. The reason why the sedan was in the wrong way is still under investigation.

Soon after, the vehicle came to a stop on the embankment of the off-ramp.

49-year-old Para and 37-year-old Quintanar sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Responders rushed two more people to regional trauma centers with unknown injuries.

At this point, there are no reports of arrests after the said accident.

Authorities issued a SigAlert to close down the Tampa Avenue off-ramp. The No. 3 and No. 4 lanes of the westbound freeway were also unavailable for two hours. The SigAlert was extended from 7:11 to 9:00 a.m.
