One Killed, Gary Thompson Arrested in Spokane Pedestrian Accident

 
SPOKANE, WA (February 6, 2024) – The Spokane Police Department arrested 70-year-old Gary Thompson after a pedestrian accident on North Morton Street on February 3.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at East Empire Avenue shortly after 7:00 PM. Based on a report, a 35-year-old woman was crossing the street at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a vehicle traveling on East Empire Avenue hit the victim. Subsequently, Thompson hit the victim who was down on the roadway.
 
As a result, the woman suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. Officials did not release her name, pending kin notification.
 
SPD’s Major Crimes unit and drug recognition experts determined Thompson was impaired at that point. Authorities took him into custody for vehicular homicide.
