Gabriel Cruz Struck and Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver in Phoenix

 
PHOENIX, AZ (January 9, 2024) – The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office identified 46-year-old Gabriel Cruz who died in a hit-and-run on 83rd Avenue on December 31.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at McDowell Road around 11:40 PM. Based on the report, deputies found Cruz at the scene after a vehicle hit him and fled the scene. It was unclear if he was in a marked crosswalk.
 
As a result, the victim suffered critical injuries in the incident. Emergency crews transported him to the hospital, where he later died.
 
Phoenix police are now searching for the hit-and-run driver. They believe the suspect’s vehicle is a dark colored possibly Dodge Challenger or similar style vehicle.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
