Frankie Hernandez Dies in Fatal Vernon Crash with Semi-Truck on Highway 70

 
VERNON, TX (June 19, 2023) – Officials identified 25-year-old Frankie Hernandez of Amarillo who died in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 70 on June 10.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened four miles from Vernon. Based on a report, Hernandez was driving an Isuzu truck at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.
 
Troopers said he failed to control his speed and struck a semi-truck pulling a trailer while it was attempting to make a turn. Subsequently, the collision hit a third vehicle in the lanes.
 
As a result, Hernandez suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Emergency crews treated four people for non-incapacitating injuries.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
