Francisca Almaraz Killed, Jasmine Glover Injured, Michael Melson Arrested in Bryan Semi-Truck Crash

18-Year-Old Francisca Almaraz Identified in DUI Crash on Highway 6 in Bryan

 
BRYAN, TX (July 17, 2023) – The Bryan Police Department identified 18-year-old Francisca Almaraz of Bryan who died in a crash on Highway 6 on July 6.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Harvey Mitchell Parkway just before 11:00 PM. Based on a report, Almaraz and 17-year-old Jasmine Glover of Houston were passengers in a 2018 Toyota pickup. The vehicle was traveling southbound on the highway prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a 1997 Kenworth 18-wheeler was on the same road and direction. Due to speeding, the driver of the Toyota pickup struck the rear of the Kenworth and caught fire.
 
As a result, Almaraz died at the CHI St. Joseph Regional Health Hospital.
 
Crews transported Glover to the hospital with serious injuries.
 
After medical treatment, officers arrested the driver of the Toyota, 21-year-old Michael Melson of Bryan. They booked him into the Brazos County Jail for Intoxication Manslaughter.
