Francis Winn Killed after Eatonville Wrong-Way Accident on Highway 7 at Mile Post 29
EATONVILLE, WA (February 21, 2024) — A 45-year-old man identified as Francis Winn, of Des Moines, died in a wrong-way accident on Monday, February 12.
According to Washington State Patrol trooper John Dattilo, the fatal accident took place on Highway 7 at Mile Post 29 at around 10:37 a.m.
WSP said Winn drove south in the northbound lane of Highway 7. Then his car struck a work van at Mile Post 29.
Reports said Winn sustained fatal injuries in the crash. He died at Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
The driver of the suffered minor injuries. WSP said he self-transported to a medical center. Authorities only described him as a 23-year-old Morton man.
Authorities said the vehicles traveled in a 50 mph zone and the speed added to the impact.
Officials closed the road for hours during the investigation.
