Fernando Portal Detained after Fairfield Hit-and-Run

 
FAIRFIELD, CA (March 28, 2023)Fernando Portal ended up being arrested after an alleged hit-and-run near North Texas Street and Pacific Avenue on Saturday night, March 18.

The Fairfield Police Department responded to a report of the incident at around 8:55 p.m.

Authorities said Portal, who had been described by a resident as the suspect in a hit-and-run, ran off as soon as officers located him in the area.

This instigated a pursuit which proved short-lived as officials caught Portal.

Amid his escape attempt, the suspect tossed a bag off his back. The backpack contained two loaded handguns, one of which had been stolen out of Reno.

Police then arrested Portal for resisting arrest, hit-and-run, and several weapon violations. Portal, who would later be identified as a convicted felon who had been prohibited from possessing firearms, was booked into the county jail.

There is still no update whether a person suffered injuries in the alleged hit-and-run.
