Cameron Patterson killed, Marcos Zuniega II and Others Injured in Fresno Car Crash
FRESNO, CA (March 28, 2023) – 18-year-old Cameron Patterson died after his car crashed into a canal on Herndon Avenue and Madsen Road on March 22.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision happened around 6:15 p.m. Based on a report, a car carrying four teenagers was speeding in the area when it lost control and struck a nearby Friant-Kern Canal.
Soon after, the 18-year-old driver of the car was identified as Marcos Zuniga II. He and three others escaped the vehicle. However, Patterson was trapped and was not able to get out.
As a result, Patterson went missing overnight. Crews recovered his body inside the car that sank.
Responders rushed two of the teens to a hospital with unknown injuries.
At this point, the investigation is ongoing, but the connection of drugs and alcohol were ruled out.
