Woman Dies After Rear-End Accident on Highway 58
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 29, 2022) – A 50-year-old woman died after a truck rear-ended her disabled vehicle on Highway 58 last Sunday, November 27.
Based on California Highway Patrol’s investigation, the collision took place around 2:15 a.m. on the west lane of Oswell Street exit.
Preliminary reports confirmed that the woman and her passenger, 58-year-old Jessep Curry, were seated in a disabled Ford Thunderbird when a westbound Chevrolet Silverado swerved right and hit the rear side of the Ford. The Silverado rolled before landing on a dirt shoulder, police said.
The driver died at the scene, authorities confirmed.
The driver of the Chevrolet, 31-year-old Gilberto L. Gallegos Jr. sustained minor injuries and was taken to Kern Medical for treatment.
Curry was not injured in the accident.
Police arrested Gallegos for possibly driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, police said.
