One Dies, Another Person and Dog in Irvine Crash at Barranca Parkway Off-Ramp

 
IRVINE, CA (November 29, 2022) — A person died while another victim and a dog got harmed following a crash on 5 Freeway at the Barranca Parkway off-ramp on Saturday afternoon, November 26.

The fatal incident occurred at about 3:14 p.m. on the transition from the Santa Ana (5) Freeway to Laguna Canyon Road (133), according to the California Highway Patrol and Orange County Fire Authority.

Authorities said a white Audi SUV collided into a tree before heading off the road and crashing through bushes. As a result, responding officials needed to extract an occupant from the SUV.

One unidentified person died at the scene.

Another victim survived with unknown injuries and received transportation at a trauma center for treatment.

Meanwhile, a medium-sized dog in the car suffered a broken rear leg. It received medical attention from Irvine Animal Control.

No other information is made available at this time. The cause of the crash and the factors behind it remain under investigation.
