One Person Died in a Multi-Vehicle Crash on 80 Freeway in Auburn

 
AUBURN, CA (February 8, 2023) – One person died in a car crash involving multiple vehicles on 80 Freeway on Saturday, February 4.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision occurred at about 12:17 p.m. near Highway 193.

Based on a report, a Dodge pickup was heading east at New Castle Road when it shifted lanes. As a result, it crashed into a bus, causing the pickup to lose control and hit the center divider.

Due to the impact, the pickup flipped, striking an oncoming Toyota Prius. The Prius then crashed into a red GMC 1500 heading west.

The Dodge went in the westerly direction and hit a Chevy Silverado, a black Kia, and a Toyota Rav 4. The Dodge came to rest on its roof.

Responders said the driver of the Dodge died at the scene. CHP identified him as a 61-year-old man from Meadow Vista. His name will not be released until the notification of next of kin.

Other involved drivers had minor injuries while the driver of the Chevy Silverado was sent to a hospital after complaining about a glass in his eyes.
