Ezequiel Zepeda Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Chico

 
CHICO, CA (March 4, 2023) – The Chico Police Department identified 73-year-old Ezequiel Zepeda of Chico as the victim who died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 32 on February 24.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just after 6:00 PM. Based on a report, Zepeda was crossing State Route 32 at the intersection of East 8th Street.
 
According to ChicoPolice, the investigation determined that Zepeda ran out onto Highway 32 in an attempt to cross the street, likely not noticing the approaching vehicle.
 
Police say the driver that struck Zepeda stopped immediately and stayed with him until emergency personnel arrived.
 
As a result, Zepeda suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
Police said the driver was not under the influence and cooperated with investigators.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
