TYLER, TX (March 26, 2024) — Police identified 79-year-old Evencio Arellano as the man killed on Monday, March 18.
 
According to the Tyler Police Department, the crash happened at 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of West Front Street and South Peach Avenue.
 
Authorities later reported that Arellano was the man who died after a vehicle struck him. They have notified his next of kin.
 
Authorities have not released the events that caused the crash. However, the police said the crash did not occur at an intersection or crosswalk.
 
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.
 
There were no reports if speed and/or impairment contributed as a factor in the crash.
 
The crash blocked traffic in the area as crews cleared the scene. It has since reopened.
