Eddie Saenz Killed, Robin Nelson Injured in Crash on Highway 349 [Martin County, TX]

Eddie Saenz Identified in Fatal Martin County Crash on Highway 349

 
MARTIN COUNTY, TX (January 5, 2023) – Officials identified 38-year-old Eddie Garcia Saenz of Mathis as the victim who died in a crash on Highway 349 on December 30.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened in the southbound lane around 11:14 PM. Based on a report, Saenz was driving a 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer near mile marker 306 prior to the crash.
 
46-year-old Robin Jay Nelson of Lamesa was driving in the same direction in a 2020 Peterbilt truck with a trailer. As Nelson slowed down to turn, Saenz rear-ended the truck.
 
As a result, Saenz was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Emergency crews took Nelson to Midland Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation.
