70-Year-Old William Calhoun Dies in Fatal Brown County Crash on Highway 183

 
BROWN COUNTY, TX (January 5, 2023) – Officials identified 70-year-old William Mark Calhoun of Early as the victim who died in a crash on Highway 183 on December 29.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened about 7.6 miles north of May. Based on a report, Calhoun was driving a 1996 Suzuki Sidekick SUV on the highway.
 
Behind him was 21-year-old Dylan James Pruitt of May was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Cruz. Pruitt failed to control his speed and rear-ended the victim’s vehicle, causing it to roll several times and eject Calhoun.
 
As a result, Calhoun was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
His passenger, 66-year-old Rhonda Hart Calhoun suffered non-incapacitating injuries. Crews took her to Hendrick Hospital in Brownwood for treatment. Pruitt was wearing a seatbelt and was hurt.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation.
