Eben Hammond Jr. Dies in Hit-and-Run Accident on Road 427 in Oakhurst

OAKHURST, CA (July 11, 2021) – Police identified Eben Hammond Jr. as the victim who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Road 427 near Elliot Drive on July 7.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just east of Elliott Drive at approximately 11:54 PM.

Based on reports, Hammond was riding his skateboard, along with two other people, westbound on Road 427 at the time of the crash. At the same time, an unknown SUV was also westbound on Road 427 at an unknown speed. Due to unknown reasons, the SUV struck the skateboarder.

Consequently, the impact threw him to the ground. As a result, 20-year-old Hammond died in the incident.

Afterward, the driver fled the scene. In addition, witnesses described the suspect’s vehicle as a dark-colored SUV with round yellow headlights and rectangular taillights.
