E-Bike Teenage Rider Injured in Racing-Related Crash on Tapo Canyon Road and 118 Freeway [Simi Valley, CA]

Teenager Riding E-Bike Hospitalized in Simi Valley Crash

 
SIMI VALLEY, CA (February 17, 2025) – A teenager riding an e-bike was injured following a racing-related crash on Tapo Canyon Road and 118 Freeway on Friday evening, February 7.
 
According to the Simi Valley Police Department, the incident happened around 7:30 p.m.
 
Preliminary investigation reported that authorities received a report of three to four juveniles racing their e-bikes at a high rate of speed on the sidewalk. One of the responding officers tried to stop one of the juveniles but he fled through the parking lot towards Alamo Street and Michael Clark Memorial Parkway.
 
Another officer, who was positioned at Alamo Street and Michael Clark Memorial Parkway, activated the squad car’s lights and siren in an attempt to stop the fleeing teen. However, the teen ran through a red light and tried to cross in front of the police car.
 
The officer stopped his vehicle to avoid contact but the juvenile ended up crashing into the vehicle’s rear push-bar bumper.
 
Medics treated the fleeing teenager at the scene with a non-life-threatening injury.
