Fatal Car Crash on Wildcat Canyon Road in Lakeside

 
LAKESIDE, CA (December 13, 2022) – A 26-year-old female driver died while her 29-year-old female passenger suffered injuries following a fiery car crash on Wildcat Canyon Road on Sunday afternoon, December 4.

The fatal accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. near Muth Valley Road, north of El Capitan High School and south of the Barona Resort and Casino. Preliminary reports stated that the driver heading north in her BMW 325i, swerved to the right, went up an embankment and hit a tree before ending up in a ditch.

The driver who got trapped in the vehicle died at the scene, police said.

The passenger was able to free herself and escape the vehicle before it caught fire. Medical personnel took her to a hospital after sustaining moderate injuries.

According to the California Highway Patrol, investigations are still on-going to determine if alcohol or drugs could have played a factor in the crash.
