Domingo Rodriguez and Mateo Lopez Identified in Fatal Red-Light Crash in Edinburg

 
EDINBURG, TX (July 9, 2023) – Police identified 41-year-old Domingo Rodriguez and Mateo Guzman Lopez who died in a two-car crash on FM 2812 on July 2.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Kenyon Road at approximately 7:20 PM. Based on the report, Rodriguez was driving a brown Chevrolet Cobalt traveling southbound on Kenyon prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a brown Chevrolet Suburban was traveling eastbound on FM 2812. Due to unknown reasons, Rodriguez failed to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign and collided with the Suburban.
 
As a result, Rodriguez and Guzman sustained grave injuries and died in the incident.
 
EMS transported the driver and passengers of the Suburban to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
