MESA, AZ (May 28, 2024) — 21-year-old Derrick Kleinschmidt from Mesa died in a motorcycle crash on Wednesday, May 15.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at about 3:20 p.m. on eastbound Highway 60 near Val Vista Drive.
 
Arizona DPS said the motorcycle slammed into the rear end of another car. Then the impact of the crash ejected the motorcycle rider into the middle lanes of the highway. After that, multiple vehicles ran over and killed the rider.
 
Officers said they believe all the drivers involved in the accident stayed at the scene.
 
Authorities have not released said what factors might have caused the crash.
